The team is led by Brett Israel, who has broad restructuring and insolvency experience across a variety of sectors and industries. In recent years, he has worked on some of the more noted corporate collapses like Lehman, Blockbuster, Jessops and City Link as well as on a wide array of mid-market cases like The Lordsbridge caravan park group, the Future People recruitment group, Ashbury Chocolates and The Troubadour Club. The post-Lehman period has also seen our involvement in a significant number of restructurings of highly leveraged private equity-backed buy-out and special purpose property vehicles, entailing debt for equity swaps, intercreditor subordinations, hedging product claims, cross-border tax migration issues and the like.
Our core clients include various firms of insolvency practitioners as well as lenders and turnaround specialists like Volvere. Recently, we have worked with the likes of FRP, Deloitte, Duff &Phelps, Grant Thornton, Mercer & Hole, Kreston Reeves, Opus Restructuring and RSM on transactional restructuring and formal insolvency matters including business and asset sales out of administration and liquidation.
Based around a very firm understanding of technical insolvency rules, we also have a strong reputation for more complex advisory work including strategic options analysis and security reviews. This is always geared around a clear grasp of the commercial imperatives and often pressured circumstances of a distressed scenario and the use of our transaction and stakeholder management skills to reach the desired business outcome in the most efficient manner available.
