Frances Spooner, Associate

Frances is a Senior Associate in the Corporate department at Marriott Harrison.  She is one of a number of home-grown members of the team, having joined as a trainee in September 2010, which gives her extensive knowledge of the businesses and requirements of numerous long-standing clients of the firm, including institutions, management teams, companies and founders, while also providing her with a breadth of experience at all levels and in a range of sectors to advise and develop existing and new clients on corporate and corporate finance matters including M&A, debt finance, and PE and VC transactions. Frances has also spent time on secondment at well-known established VC houses and therefore understands how VC houses operate and what they want from their advisers.

Prior to joining Marriott Harrison, Frances studied BA Law and Economics at the University of Leicester graduating with a First-Class honours degree.

  • Acting for the management and institutional shareholders on the sale of Picturehouse Cinemas to Cineworld plc.
  • Acting for Kaplan International on its acquisitions of Osborne Books and Mander Portman Woodward.
  • Acting for the shareholders on the sale of a large owner-managed snack retailer to the largest confectionary specialist in the UK.
  • Acting for Mobeus Equity Partners on a number of its investments, including Virgin Wines and Wetsuit Outlet.
  • Acting for Procam Television, a leading broadcast hire facilities business, on its acquisition of the assets and business of Hammerhead Television Facilities and part of the business and assets of Take 2 Film, and its acquisitions of the shares in True Lens Services and HotCam New York.
  • Acting for Soldo on its Series B fundraising led by Battery Ventures and Dawn Capital, with participation from previous backers Accel and Connect Ventures.
  • Acting for Maven Capital Partners on various investment rounds in ADC Biotechnology Limited, with participation from Seneca Partners, Downing and the Development Bank of Wales.
  • Acting for Chiltern Capital on a number of MBOs in the manufacturing/retail and leisure sectors, including Whiteleaf Furniture and Perfect Image.
  • Advising on debt financing and refinancing work, including on the lender side for a challenger bank and for borrowers in the IT/technology sectors.
