The Marriott Harrison team was pleased to act for heata on their seed funding round. Investors included Mark Boost of Civo and Green Angel Ventures.
Founded in 2017 as a British Gas innovation project, heata’s goal is to enable companies to reduce the carbon footprint of their cloud computing and help families save on their energy bills. heata has created a green distributed network that utilises the waste heat from cloud compute workloads to heat the hot water cylinders in people’s homes. heata is a sustainable alternative to traditional data centres, which waste vast amounts of heat and already produce more carbon than the aviation industry.
This round of funding will be used to build the heata team, to grow their market awareness, develop its cloud offering and support the ongoing development of the network and conduct further research.
Chris Jordan, Co-Founder and CTO at heata, commented: “At heata we’re reusing energy to help tackle fuel poverty in a cost of living crisis; another key challenge of our time. This enables a step change in sustainable compute with a genuine social impact.”
