Marriott Harrison has advised Chiltern Capital on its support of the management buyout of International Decorative Surfaces (IDS), the largest distributor of decorative surfaces in the UK.
IDS was previously part of the Compagnie de Saint-Gobain S.A. group (Saint-Gobain), the listed multinational headquartered in France and the producer and distributor of a variety of construction and other engineered materials.
IDS supplies over 12,000 products, specialising in flooring, worktops, laminates, compact, panel products, solid surface, and wall panelling, to a large and diverse customer base. IDS run a multi-channel business model encompassing 11 regional branches, 7 makeover centres and an online B2B webstore.
The management buyout was led by John Bagshaw, Managing Director, and the team will be supported by the introduction of Tony Buffin as Chair, who has previously held roles on the Boards of Travis Perkins plc and Kingfisher plc and is currently the Chair of HIG-backed Highbourne Group.
Corporate partners Jonathan Leigh-Hunt, Andrew Ross and David Bettis led the team comprising Richard Price, James Stenning, Liberty Pearl, Mark Lavers, Rebecca Patel, Rima Mehay, Sofia Gottgens, Chris Mooney, Grace McNulty-Brown, Brett Israel, Josh Hartle and Arjan Bains.
