Banking and Finance
Marriott Harrison LLP’s finance team advises both lenders and borrowers in debt financing and refinancing transactions.
Brett Israel and Hugh Gardner lead the firm’s banking and debt finance team. Both have over 20 years experience advising on bank and senior debt finance transactions at all stages in the life of a financing arrangement, with Hugh having particular expertise in the relationship between the senior and more junior layers of debt and equity in its early stages and Brett having particular expertise in its later stages.
This extensive experience, ranging across the spectrum of sectors and structures, means that we are adept at advising on bilateral and syndicated, domestic and cross-border arrangements and in marshalling our project management skills to see complex deals through to completion in the most efficient ways.
We are used to working with banks’ own bespoke facility, security and intercreditor documentation as well as being familiar with the LMA’s suite of more market standard form documentation.
We have a particular focus on acquisition finance, real estate finance and asset based lending, among others. Our corporate borrowing work sees us acting on a range of corporate loan deals, but especially for the investee vehicles of our private equity clients on acquisition finance / refinance transactions and for owner managed businesses on leveraged deals.
More recently, we have been involved in a number of alternative finance arrangements, including quoted and unquoted corporate and retail bonds, Islamic finance and fintech products (particularly in relation to crowdfunding platforms) and have the opportunity to work with new lenders coming into the market.
Members of our team have advised a range of domestic and international banks and non-bank lenders including the likes of Handelsbanken, Santander, Bank of Ireland, Syscap, Octopus Intermediate Capital, Clydesdale, Coutts, Mizrahi Tefahot and Maybank.
