Extensive experience in the contentious field including domestic and international/cross border matters. Advises on the full range of intellectual property (including patent, trademarks & passing off, copyright, design rights, trade secrets/confidential information) and competition law issues (including criminal liability arising from cartel behaviour). Particular expertise in the life sciences & pharmaceutical field (patent/general IP litigation and enforcement strategies, “dawn raids”/search and seizures by enforcement agencies, MHRA investigations; regulatory and parallel importation issues) and the media field (defamation, breach of confidence, privacy and freedom of expression issues). Acts for a wide range of clients which include high profile individuals, start-ups, SMEs, large multinational organisations and has an established clients/contacts base in Asia.
Recent work includes successfully defending a large multinational pharmaceutical company in the first UK prosecution (conspiracy to defraud) relating to cartel activity resulting in a landmark House of Lords’ decision and a series of collateral anti-competition actions involving complex electronic disclosure exercises and issues.
