These are exciting times for the firm as I welcome you to the first issue of MH Update issued by Marriott Harrison LLP. The firm became a limited liability partnership on the 1st April 2013. At the same time I am delighted to announce that, this month, a new partner has joined the firm.
Catherine McLoughlin has joined the Corporate Department from the London office of Pannone LLP. Catherine specialises in corporate finance, private equity and M&A transactions with a particular focus on the life sciences sector.
The firm’s conversion to an LLP and our recent hire signals the beginning of an exciting era for the firm. Although the indicators suggest that there is unlikely to be much growth in the economy for another year or more, nevertheless, Marriott Harrison continues to build its practice. By focussing on entrepreneurial businesses in the SME market and emphasising partner involvement throughout the life of client projects, the firm continues to attract new clients as well as building on existing relationships.
The partners are also currently working on a number of other initiatives to bring in additional senior personnel from other leading firms. The word is out that in order to be beautiful, a law firm does not have to be big. From what we are seeing in the legal market place, there is increasing dissatisfaction by many in larger law firms who feel that not only are their voices not heard, but the bureaucratic commoditisation of legal practice inhibits their ability to provide the type of personalised service to commercial clients that is a hallmark of the Marriott Harrison offering. They are also attracted by the collegiate atmosphere that we offer. We hope to make further announcements about new joiners in very early course.
In the interim, please enjoy the potpourri of articles that our lawyers have written to inform you about some recent developments in the law. As ever, your feedback is welcomed.
