Life At Marriott Harrison - Trainee's View
I joined Marriott Harrison as a trainee and my first seat was spent in the Corporate department before moving to Litigation for my second six months. In this relatively short period of time I feel that I have worked on a wide variety of files including, during my first seat, two public offerings on AIM and numerous private equity transactions. Our clients work in a range of industry sectors and this, together with the firm’s ambition and high standard of work makes for a training contract of the highest standard in a challenging, friendly and stimulating environment.
Marriott Harrison has a high partner to assistant/trainee ratio which means that generally speaking, trainees sit directly with a partner. Far from being intimidating, this ensures that trainees are fully involved in the work being undertaken and are given both a high level of responsibility and direct guidance from experienced practitioners. The partners and assistants operate an open door policy which means that you can always find someone who is willing to point you in the right direction or simply talk something through with you.
From my first day at Marriott Harrison I have felt welcomed and supported by the partners, assistants, other trainees and support staff. The size of the firm makes it possible to build strong working relationships with colleagues and as such, the firm really works together as a team. Trainees are actively encouraged to become involved in marketing and social activities and the firm organises plenty of internal social events including softball, football, bowling, quiz nights and regular “drinks”.
My training contract so far has involved challenging and interesting work and I am looking forward to further varied and exciting work in my final two seats.
